Indian-American Republican presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy has set a notable record by engaging in 42 campaign stops within a week, surpassing his 2024 White House rivals, as reported by USA Today newspaper on Saturday. The 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur, currently campaigning in Iowa, expressed that he derives motivation from the energizing crowds during these events.
In an interview with USA Today, Ramaswamy shared his life's success formula, stating, “Here's how you spell luck: W-O-R-K. It's always been a formula that has worked for me in my life be it in my academic background, be it as a student, be it in my career, as a businessman, and now on this journey.” He attributed this approach to a valuable lesson learned from his parents. Additionally, he highlighted his caffeine-free campaign strategy.
Ramaswamy intends to maintain his intensive schedule in the upcoming week, planning to attend 38 events. Despite trailing former President Donald Trump by over 50 points in most national polls, Ramaswamy strives to persuade voters in Iowa that he is a preferable Republican nominee. The state is set to hold the Republican Party primary on January 15, 2024.
Emphasizing the significance of direct engagement with voters, Ramaswamy expressed confidence in his approach. He asserted, "I'd rather spend time with these caucusgoers and Pizza Ranches across the state, rather than being a cloistered mega-donor retreat."
Reflecting on his campaign style, Ramaswamy, a Yale Law School graduate with a net worth of around USD 630 million, approaches the endeavor with the same dedication as his business ventures, maintaining a rigorous schedule without much downtime. Anson Frericks, co-founder of Strive Asset Management with Ramaswamy, highlighted the relentless nature of his schedule, describing a typical day where he works out, takes calls, and stays connected with various tasks even during personal routines like showering and brushing his teeth.
While Ramaswamy currently ranks fourth in most national polls, trailing Trump, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his extensive campaign efforts have garnered recognition from voters who appreciate his hard work and enthusiasm.
