Late on Saturday night in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah, tragedy struck when a dumper truck collided with a 'dhaba' near the Manikpur crossing, resulting in the unfortunate demise of three individuals and causing injuries to three others. The District Magistrate of Etawah, Avnish Rai, informed the media that the injured victims have been promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased have been successfully recovered. At this juncture, the identities of the three fatalities remain undisclosed.
Providing additional details, Etawah Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Verma, in statements to the ANI news agency, revealed that the culpable truck driver has been apprehended and was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Avnish Rai went on to describe the challenging recovery efforts, emphasizing that it took approximately two hours to extricate the bodies from the debris left in the wake of the collision. Earlier visuals captured at the accident site depicted a bulldozer diligently clearing the remnants of bricks and other materials from the collapsed 'dhaba.'
Sharing insights into the preliminary assessment of the incident, the Etawah District Magistrate suggested that the truck likely deviated from its designated lane, ultimately crashing into the 'dhaba.' Furthermore, he noted that the truck bore a Jharkhand number plate and has since been removed from the scene of the accident.
