In connection to the incident involving the breach of Parliament security, five out of the six individuals accused—namely, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Lalit Jha, and Mahesh Kumawat—have voluntarily agreed to undergo a polygraph test, as confirmed before a court in Delhi. The consent for the polygraph test was provided by these accused individuals who were arrested in relation to the security breach that occurred on Friday.
Additionally, the custody of all the accused individuals, including Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Neelam Azad, Lalit Jha, and Mahesh Kumawat, was extended by eight days by Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur. The extension was granted upon the request of the Delhi Police, who sought an extension after presenting the accused individuals before the court following the expiration of their previous custody.
It is noteworthy that the accused individuals, excluding Neelam Azad, expressed their willingness to undergo the polygraph test during the court proceedings. Prior to this, the Delhi Police had approached the court seeking approval to conduct polygraph tests on all the accused individuals involved in the Parliament security breach incident.
The occurrence of the security breach, which transpired on December 13, 2023, marked the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. During Zero Hour, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, two of the accused individuals, entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow gas from canisters and shouting slogans, before being subdued by Members of Parliament. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad, two other accused individuals, sprayed colored gas outside the Parliament premises while vocalizing the slogan "tanashahi nahi chalegi" (dictatorship won't work).
