In Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur, the Uttar Pradesh Police apprehended four individuals on charges of gang-raping and subsequently murdering a woman, whose lifeless body was disposed of in a water tank. The accused, identified as the woman's brothers-in-law, were taken into custody following a complaint lodged by the victim's family. Notably, the mastermind behind this heinous crime is the victim's husband, who is currently residing in Dubai, according to law enforcement authorities.
The unsettling incident came to the forefront on January 20 when local residents reported the discovery of the woman's unclothed body within a water tank at an under-construction building. Upon the police's arrival at the scene, additional findings included bottles of soft drinks and some consumables.
The arrested individuals were identified as Rohit Lodhi, Ramchandra alias Puttu, Shivam alias Pancham, and Sonu Lodhi. Another individual implicated in the case, Nanku Lodhi, remains at large.
During the course of interrogation, the accused revealed that they sexually assaulted the woman, who had visited her parents' residence, under the pretext of accompanying her to a fair. Subsequently, they resorted to crushing her face with bricks in an attempt to conceal her identity, as disclosed to the police by the perpetrators.
The accused further conveyed that the entire sequence of events was premeditated by their brother (the woman's husband), who also provided them with monetary incentives.
Simultaneously, ongoing efforts are being made to apprehend both the woman's husband and the fugitive fifth accused.
The woman's remains were subjected to postmortem examination, affirming the occurrence of gang-rape. The forensic report additionally confirmed that the woman succumbed to severe head injuries and excessive bleeding, as asserted by law enforcement authorities.
