Asks Himanta Biswa Sarma: Is Rahul Gandhi utilizing a "body double" on the Nyay Yatra

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has cast doubt on whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi might be employing a "body double" for his involvement in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Sarma has expressed suspicions, indicating that the individual captured in photographs during the journey may not genuinely be Rahul Gandhi.

"There are apprehensions regarding the possibility of Rahul Gandhi utilizing a 'body double' during his bus journeys. This suggests that the person observed at the forefront of the bus engaging with people may not be Rahul Gandhi as presumed," Sarma stated.

Furthermore, he made allegations, drawing from insider information sourced from within the Congress, that the bus accompanying Rahul Gandhi on the tour is equipped with multiple compartments. Allegedly, Gandhi often secludes himself within one section with a select group of individuals, while a "lookalike" is presented to the public.

"Despite the media's belief that they are capturing images of Rahul Gandhi, in actuality, it could be his body double," Sarma proclaimed during a press briefing.

Sarma's assertions are based on a report by a news outlet dated January 22, which raised doubts about the potential utilization of a "body double" by Rahul Gandhi during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Sarma speculated whether Gandhi's purported use of a "body double" was part of a larger strategy.

Tensions between the Sarma-led administration and Rahul Gandhi have intensified, particularly since the resumption of the yatra in Assam. During the initial rallies in Assam, Rahul Gandhi made corruption allegations against the Assam CM and his family members, including accusations made during his speech in Dhubri, where he branded Sarma as the "most corrupt" individual in the country.

These accusations insinuated that Sarma has vested interests in various aspects of citizens' lives, ranging from tea production to the procurement of coal used for heating water for tea preparation.

The Congress Yatra, during its Assam leg, was marred by incidents of violence, clashes with Assam Police, breaches of barricades, and notably, an FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly instigating violence and deviating from the approved route set by the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government.
