Police have reported that Suchana Seth, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mindful AI Lab based in Bengaluru, allegedly attempted to end her life by slitting her left wrist. This disturbing incident occurred in the backdrop of Seth being accused of killing her four-year-old son at a service apartment in Goa. According to the initial investigation, it was revealed that Seth initially contemplated suicide but changed her mind. Subsequently, she departed for Bengaluru with her son's body concealed in a bag, utilizing a tourist cab for Rs 30,000.
The 39-year-old entrepreneur faced arrest in Chitradurga, Karnataka, after the staff at the apartment discovered red stains in her room, prompting them to notify the local police. Upon contacting Seth's cab driver, the police directed him to alter the route towards the nearest police station, leading to Seth's eventual arrest. The child's lifeless body was discovered during the inspection of her luggage.
A senior police official informed PTI that the blood stains found on a towel in the service flat were a result of Seth's wrist self-infliction.
Following her arrest, Seth, who holds a master's degree in Physics and excelled in Sanskrit, has been remanded in police custody for six days by a local court in Goa.
Seth, originally from West Bengal and residing in Bengaluru, allegedly committed the murder to prevent her estranged husband, currently in Jakarta, from exercising his visitation rights to meet their son. The ongoing divorce proceedings between the couple have reportedly fueled the tragic incident. Sources have indicated that Seth's discontent arose after a court order granted visitation rights to her estranged husband, who hails from Kerala, allowing him to meet their son every Sunday. Allegedly unhappy with this arrangement, Seth purportedly planned to end her son's life just a day before the scheduled meeting.
Nidhin Valson, North Goa's Superintendent of Police, mentioned, "This is what she conveyed to our investigators. The motive is yet to be confirmed. We need to review the court order before making further statements."
The unfolding tragedy has left a profound impact, raising questions about the complexities surrounding family dynamics, mental health, and the consequences of legal decisions during divorce proceedings.
