Bihar political crisis: At RJD meet, party authorises Lalu Yadav to take decision

In Bihar, the coalition known as 'Mahagathbandan,' in which the RJD holds a significant position, currently faces a shortfall of 8 MLAs from attaining the majority mark in the Bihar assembly.

RJD leaders in Bihar convened on Saturday and bestowed upon party president Lalu Prasad the authority to make decisive choices, citing concerns about a potential abandonment by the JD(U), an ally of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

This decision was communicated by RJD's national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP, Manoj Jha, following a party gathering held at the residence of Prasad’s wife, Rabri Devi.

Jha, while declining further queries, emphasized the commendable efforts of Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy CM and son of the party supremo, in revolutionizing the health sector, a responsibility he capably undertook.

The meeting witnessed the presence of all senior party leaders, including members of the state legislature.

With 79 MLAs, the RJD stands as the largest single party in the assembly, spearheading the 'Mahagathbandhan,' which encompasses the Congress and three Left parties.

In light of the possibility of JD(U), led by Kumar, withdrawing from the alliance, the 'Mahagathbandhan' finds itself short of eight members to secure a majority in the assembly.

The political atmosphere within the grand alliance in Bihar remains tense, fueled by strong indications hinting at Kumar's potential reconsideration to rejoin the BJP-led NDA, thus adding to the uncertainty surrounding the coalition's future.
