Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized that the Ram temple holds profound emotional significance for Hindus across the nation, responding to Rahul Gandhi's accusation that the BJP had transformed the January 22 consecration ceremony at Ayodhya into a political spectacle. Chandrasekhar, a BJP leader, contended that Gandhi's attempt to question the BJP's stance on the Ram temple and criticize the Modi government's economic management was misguided.
In a press conference, Chandrasekhar criticized Gandhi, characterizing him as dwelling in a fanciful world where he assumes that his statements go unscrutinized, allowing him to propagate what he deemed as outrageous falsehoods. According to Chandrasekhar, Gandhi's strategies, previously employed in 2014 and 2019, are once again being attempted, but the Indian populace, in Chandrasekhar's view, possesses the discernment to grasp the truth and comprehend the essence of Gandhi's political maneuvers.
The minister took the opportunity to draw attention to the performance of the Congress government in Karnataka, attributing what he labeled as "corruption and farmers' distress" in the state to their governance.
Gandhi, in his remarks in Nagaland, had asserted that the January 22 ceremony had been politicized by the BJP and the RSS, making it challenging for his party's leaders to participate. This stance reiterated during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra press conference, followed the Congress leadership's decision to decline an invitation to the Ayodhya event.
Chandrasekhar, referring to a Niti Aayog report indicating a significant reduction in multidimensional poverty over nine years till 2022-23, praised Modi's pro-poor and welfare policies for fostering development. He accused the Congress of misleading the underprivileged with hollow slogans of 'Garibi Hatao' (eliminate poverty).
In a rhetorical swipe at Gandhi's Nyay Yatra, Chandrasekhar asserted that the Modi government had rectified past injustices. He claimed that the Congress had exploited the poor for decades, while Modi's administration had made a transformative impact.
Highlighting the growth in startups and unicorns since 2015, Chandrasekhar pointed to a parliamentary report from 2012 that noted the concentration of net worth in the banking system among nine groups. He emphasized the increased capital availability for young innovators due to a supportive system.
Predicting a surge in startups and unicorns in the next decade, Chandrasekhar asserted India's transition from a technology-consuming to a technology-producing country. He attributed this transformation to a decline in the unemployment rate, which he linked to the government's policies and initiatives supporting innovation and entrepreneurship.
