Bomb threat letter received by Patna High Court prompts anti-terror unit to respond

On Friday, the Patna High Court faced a security concern as it received a menacing email threatening to detonate not only its premises but also other courts across the country. The gravity of the threat prompted an immediate response from law enforcement agencies. In particular, the police, equipped with a bomb squad, Anti-Terror Squad, and a sniffer dog squad, swiftly converged on the court premises to conduct a meticulous search.

The alert was raised after the court registrar received the threatening email, prompting the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law and Order), Krishna Murari Prasad, to coordinate a comprehensive security operation. Despite the thorough search efforts, which included the expertise of the bomb squad and sniffer dogs, no items arousing suspicion were found within the court premises.

As part of their ongoing investigation, the police are diligently working to verify the authenticity of the email address from which the threat originated. This verification process aims to determine the credibility and source of the threat, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by institutions in the digital age, where threats can be conveyed through electronic means. Law enforcement's prompt and thorough response is crucial in such situations to ensure the safety and security of judicial institutions and those associated with them.
