The visit, which drew mocking comments from Maldivian political leaders, has ignited a considerable controversy.

Taking to social media, these celebrities utilized their platforms to endorse the "Visit Lakshadweep" message, responding to disparaging remarks made by Maldivian leaders. Akshay Kumar, for instance, expressed surprise at what he termed "unprovoked hate" from prominent figures in the Maldives, emphasizing the need to uphold dignity. He encouraged the promotion of Indian tourism, stating, "Let us decide to #ExploreIndianIslands and support our own tourism."

Salman Khan echoed a positive sentiment, appreciating the Indian Prime Minister's presence at the beautiful beaches of Lakshadweep and celebrating it as a valuable asset within India.

Similarly, Shraddha Kapoor conveyed her desire to explore the pristine beaches and vibrant local culture of Lakshadweep, encouraging others to join in the campaign to #ExploreIndianIslands.

John Abraham shared captivating images of Lakshadweep's beaches, endorsing it as a must-visit destination with its remarkable hospitality, the essence of "Atithi Devo Bhava," and the rich marine life waiting to be explored.

Sachin Tendulkar, in a video showcasing himself playing cricket on a beach, celebrated India's beautiful coastlines and pristine islands. With the philosophy of "Atithi Devo Bhava," he encouraged exploration of the country's vast and diverse destinations.

As the controversy continues to escalate, it is anticipated that more celebrities will join the discussion. Prime Minister Modi's visit to Lakshadweep on January 4, including images of him snorkeling, went viral, prompting comparisons to the Maldives and positioning Lakshadweep as a superior tourist spot. The derogatory remarks from Maldivian political leaders led to a swift response from Indian internet users, with the hashtag "#BoycottMaldives" gaining traction online.
