Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has opted to halt his 2024 US Presidential campaign, a decision he communicated on Tuesday following former US President Donald Trump's triumph in the Iowa caucus.
The 38-year-old entrepreneur announced the suspension after experiencing a disappointing outcome in Iowa's leadoff caucuses. Emphasizing the campaign's focus on truth-telling, Ramaswamy acknowledged falling short of the set goals and expressed the need for an America-First patriot in the White House. Declaring his campaign's suspension, he endorsed Donald J. Trump, pledging to contribute wholeheartedly to Trump's pursuit of the US presidency. Ramaswamy conveyed immense pride in his team, the movement, and the country through a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
In a notable move, Ramaswamy extended his support to Trump, even in the event of Trump facing felony convictions. Trump secured a decisive victory in the initial 2024 Republican Presidential contest in Iowa on Monday.
As per CNN projections, Trump is emerging as the winner in the Iowa caucuses, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in second place and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in third. Trump garnered over 55,000 votes, DeSantis received over 23,000 votes, Haley secured over 20,000 votes, and Ramaswamy found himself in fourth place with slightly over 8,000 votes.
