In Madhya Pradesh, a doctor couple commits suicide due to debt; note recovered

On Saturday, a tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district, where a doctor couple allegedly took their own lives at their residence, purportedly due to an unresolved financial debt, as reported by the police.

The deceased individuals, identified as Doctors Balbir and Manju Kaithoria, were discovered lifeless in their residence situated in Nandan Colony in Bina town, approximately 70 km from the district headquarters, according to a police official.

The distressing discovery was made by the couple's son, who had returned home this morning from his out-of-town studies. The police official provided details, revealing that Balbir was found suspended from the ceiling fan, while his wife, Manju, was found on the bed. Initial indications suggest that Manju might have succumbed to the ingestion or injection of a toxic substance.

Further adding to the somber circumstances, a suicide note was uncovered in the room, wherein the couple conveyed their distress regarding an impending financial liability. The note served as a poignant testament to the struggles they were facing, particularly related to the outstanding debt that had evidently overwhelmed them.

Both deceased individuals were employed as doctors within the state health department, contributing to the community's well-being. Balbir served at the community health center in Kurwai, while Manju held the position of a gynecologist at Bina Civil Hospital.

The police have initiated legal proceedings, registering a case, and an ongoing investigation is underway to delve into the circumstances leading to this tragic incident. The community mourns the loss of two dedicated healthcare professionals, highlighting the pressing need to address mental health and financial challenges faced by individuals in demanding professions.
