Kerala groom charges police after riding a camel to the wedding venue

The occurrence transpired on January 14 when the groom, accompanied by 25 individuals, orchestrated a wedding procession to the bride's residence atop a camel, leading to a substantial traffic jam in Kerala's Kannur. Subsequently, the local police took legal action by registering a case against the groom and his associates, citing offenses related to the unauthorized assembly of a group, causing public disturbance, and impeding the flow of traffic.

Rizwan, the groom hailing from Valapattanam in Kannur, found himself entangled in the legal proceedings initiated by the police. The incident unfolded as he traversed the route to the bride's home astride a camel. A formal complaint lodged with the police underscored the adverse consequences of the wedding procession, particularly the resulting traffic congestion that ensnared various vehicles, including critical ones like ambulances.

Furthermore, the complaint highlighted the use of smoke guns during the procession, contributing to obstructed visibility for fellow travelers. Prompted by concerned locals, who reported an ambulance stuck in the gridlock, the police intervention became imperative.

Upon reaching the scene, the police compelled the groom to dismount from the camel. Additionally, two individuals accompanying the groom challenged the police's actions, leading to their temporary detention. Subsequently, they were released after receiving a warning from the authorities.
