Manvendra Singh of the Congress is hurt in an automobile accident in Rajasthan, and his wife dies

Tragic news unfolded in Rajasthan's Alwar on Tuesday when Chitra Singh, the wife of former Congress MP Manvendra Singh, lost her life in a road accident. Manvendra Singh, aged 59 and son of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, was also present in the car during the unfortunate incident and sustained injuries. The family, including their 25-year-old son Hamir Singh and their driver, was hurriedly taken to the hospital after the accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway while they were en route from Delhi to Jaipur.

Initial investigations revealed that Chitra was seated beside her husband, who was driving the vehicle, while their son and the driver occupied the rear seats. Adding to the complexity of the situation, CCTV cameras along the stretch where the accident occurred were reportedly non-functional.

Alwar ASP Tejpal Singh provided details to reporters, stating, "The accident occurred at Point 82.8 on NH4, involving a Jeep carrying four individuals, including the driver. Sadly, a lady's demise has been confirmed, with three others sustaining injuries."

Visual evidence obtained by India Today TV depicted the mangled front portion of the grey SUV, which had been transporting Manvendra Singh and his family. Photographs captured the extensive damage inflicted on the car's windscreen as a result of the collision.

Manvendra Singh, who served as a Lok Sabha member from 2004 to 2009 representing the Barmer-Jaisalmer constituency of Rajasthan, hails from a distinguished political lineage. His father, Jaswant Singh, a revered figure in politics and a founding member of the BJP, passed away in 2020 after serving in various central ministries, including a tenure as the Finance Minister during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government.

Providing an update on Manvendra Singh's condition, a doctor revealed to news agency ANI, "Chitra Singh was declared deceased upon arrival at the hospital, while Manvendra Singh sustained a chest injury but remains conscious. Their son suffered minor injuries."

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot expressed his condolences on X, formerly Twitter, mourning the loss and praying for the departed soul's peace and the speedy recovery of Manvendra Singh and other injured family members.
