Soheb Sheikh, a 24-year-old resident of Mumbai, was apprehended on charges of allegedly strangling his girlfriend, Amit Kaur, at a hotel in Navi Mumbai. The incident occurred on January 8 when Sheikh, suspecting that Kaur was involved with another man, took her to the hotel under the pretense of celebrating her birthday and purportedly committed the act of strangulation.
Sheikh, employed at a garage in Sion, Mumbai, and Amit Kaur, serving as a bank manager in Navi Mumbai, had initiated their relationship in September 2023 after connecting on social media. Concurrently, Mumbai Police received information indicating Soheb Sheikh's potential involvement in illicit activities. Subsequently, law enforcement officers apprehended Sheikh at his residence. During the interrogation, he disclosed details about the homicide at the Navi Mumbai hotel, citing suspicions of his partner's alleged involvement with another person.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered Amit Kaur's lifeless body in the hotel room. A murder case has been registered against Soheb Sheikh, who is presently under the custody of Navi Mumbai Police.
It is noteworthy that Amit Kaur, a divorcee, resided with her mother and daughter in Sion Koliwada. The tragic incident unfolded against the backdrop of what was initially planned as a birthday celebration, shedding light on the complexities of the relationships involved.
