Rahul Gandhi departs from Manipur to begin the more than 6,000-kilometer Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

Commencing the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Thoubal in Manipur, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, expressed strong criticism against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the recent ethnic conflicts in the state. Accusing the BJP of disseminating animosity, he launched the mass outreach program on Sunday, initiating a journey that spans over 6700 km and covers 15 states, from Manipur to Mumbai, in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

During the launch of the Yatra, Rahul Gandhi vehemently condemned the BJP for its alleged role in the ethnic clashes in Manipur, characterizing the state as a glaring example of the BJP's "politics of hatred." He asserted, "Perhaps for Narendra Modi, the BJP, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Manipur does not hold the status of being an integral part of India."

Highlighting the aftermath of the clashes that took place after June 29, Rahul Gandhi lamented the division and the pervasive spread of hatred in Manipur. He criticized the BJP government for the absence of any visit by the Prime Minister to address the grievances of the affected people, labeling it as a shameful oversight. According to the Wayanad MP, "Manipur has experienced a profound loss due to the BJP's political strategies," emphasizing the failure of governance infrastructure in the state and expressing dismay at the Prime Minister's absence.

In a poignant reflection on the situation, Rahul Gandhi, who has been active in politics since 2004, remarked that Manipur presented a unique case where the entire governance infrastructure had collapsed. He asserted, "Manipur stands as a symbol of the BJP's politics, a manifestation of the hatred propagated by the BJP and RSS. It epitomizes the viewpoint and ideology of the BJP."

Promising to restore harmony and peace, which he claimed Manipur was renowned for, Rahul Gandhi pledged to recover the values that the people of Manipur hold dear. Acknowledging the pain, loss, and sadness experienced by the people, he assured them that the Congress party would strive to reinstate the harmony, peace, and affection that the state had always been known for.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, jointly inaugurated by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, is perceived as the Congress party's strategic move to shape the narrative leading up to the impending Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi elucidated that the Yatra aims to address prevailing injustices in India, encompassing social, economic, and political dimensions. He emphasized issues such as economic monopolies, unequal distribution of wealth, the dominance of a few entities in various sectors leading to the demise of small businesses, inflation, and unemployment as focal points to be addressed during the Yatra.

The Yatra is scheduled to conclude on March 20 or 21 in Mumbai, marking a significant undertaking in the Congress party's efforts to engage with the public and influence the discourse in the lead-up to the elections.
