The newly installed idol of Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is adorned with a spectacular assortment of jewelry, underscoring the divine status of Lord Ram as a five-year-old child. The meticulous craftsmanship of dedicated artisans is evident in the creation of this jewelry, with a remarkable composition of at least 15 kg of gold and an impressive array of 18,000 diamonds and emeralds specifically designed for the deity.
Drawing inspiration from sacred texts such as the Adhyatma Ramayana, Srimad Valmiki Ramayana, Shri Ramcharitmanas, and Aalavandar Stotra, these skilled artisans intricately fashioned each piece of jewelry. Their work aimed to capture the scripture-based beauty of Lord Ram, as vividly described in these revered texts.
The ensemble comprises a total of 14 meticulously crafted pieces, including a tilak, a crown, four necklaces, a waistband, two pairs of anklets, Vijay Mala, and two rings. Remarkably, this entire collection was completed within a mere 12 days, showcasing the efficiency and dedication of the artisans involved.
The responsibility for crafting the jewelry for Ram Lalla was entrusted to Lucknow's Harsahaymal Shyamlal Jewelers, a task initiated by the Ram Mandir Trust approximately 15 days prior.
The crown, serving as the focal point of the set, was crafted with extraordinary attention to detail. Weighing approximately 1.7 kg and fashioned from 22-carat gold, it features 75-carat diamonds, 175-carat Zambian emeralds, and 262-carat rubies. Symbolically, the crown mirrors the turban of a five-year-old boy, emphasizing Lord Ram's tender age. Additionally, it showcases the symbol of Lord Surya, denoting Lord Ram's Suryavanshi lineage, and is adorned with diamonds symbolizing purity.
Following the crown, the tilak, or divine forehead marking, was fashioned with 16 grams of gold and embellished with three-carat diamonds at the center and 10-carat diamonds on either side. The Burmese ruby incorporated in it further enhances its aesthetic appeal. An emerald ring, weighing 65 grams and featuring four-carat diamonds, 33-carat emeralds, and a Zambian emerald at the center, symbolizes Lord Ram’s wisdom and his harmonious relationship with nature during his forest-dwelling days.
Collectively, these intricately designed and thoughtfully conceptualized pieces breathe life into the divine beauty of Lord Ram, capturing the essence of his spiritual significance.
The 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony marked the consecration of the 51-inch Ram Lalla idol at the Ram Temple, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This significant event was witnessed by a multitude of people through television broadcasts, and the doors of the Ram temple opened to the public on Tuesday, a day after the idol's consecration.
