The chief priest at the Venkateswara Balaji Temple in Tirupati has announced that a significant quantity of 125 kilograms of pure honey, meticulously crafted over three years from flowers in Alwar's Sariska forest, will be transported to Ayodhya on a chariot for the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22 at the Ram Mandir. The honey, prepared by Jitendra Gautam using nectar from diverse flowers in the Alwar forest, holds symbolic importance in the consecration ceremony.
Sudarshanacharya Maharaj, the chief priest, elaborated on the ceremonial significance of honey in the consecration process, emphasizing the essential role of Panchamrit, a divine offering comprising milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar. The honey from Sariska forest, considered pure and sanctified, is an integral part of this consecration ceremony, highlighting the connection between the deity and the five elements.
The transportation of the honey will be undertaken with great care, as a chariot will carry the sacred substance from Alwar to Ayodhya, embarking on its journey on January 13 and reaching its destination on the following day. Vishwa Hindu Parishad officials will safeguard the honey during its journey, presenting it to the Ram Mandir Trust upon arrival.
Before its departure, the honey underwent a sanctification ritual at the Venkateswara Balaji Temple and will also be offered at the Jagannath Temple in Alwar, further emphasizing its sacred nature. Sudarshanacharya Maharaj shared that he received an invitation from saints to visit the Ram Temple, and upon learning about the Ram Temple Trust's quest for pure honey, he decided to contribute the honey from the flowers in the Sariska forest.
The priest highlighted the continuation of the honey's significance even after the consecration ceremony, revealing that the Ram Temple Trust has requested its provision for ongoing rituals. According to Sudarshanacharya, the honey will be incorporated into the pan (betel leaf) offered to the deity as a continuing element of devotion.
Looking ahead to the 'Pran Pratistha' ceremony on January 22, where the Ram temple in Ayodhya will be inaugurated, preparations are underway for the momentous event. The ceremony, expected to draw dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, holds great significance in the completion of the first phase of the Ram temple. In addition to the honey, the Sri Venkateswara Temple has also announced the distribution of one lakh laddu to devotees on the auspicious day.
