Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma continued his criticism of the Congress party for opting not to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir, accusing them of showing preference for Babur over Lord Ram. Sarma, in his ongoing rebuke of Congress, asserted that the party "loves Babur, but not Lord Ram," and characterized their decision as a missed "golden opportunity" to "reduce their sins."
Highlighting the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's offer to Congress as a chance to cleanse their alleged sins, Sarma expressed disappointment in their refusal, stating, "They have created an ecosystem against building the Ram Mandir. Nevertheless, they were invited to the ceremony. It was a golden opportunity for the Congress."
Sarma further criticized the Congress leadership, alleging that their historical visits to Babur's Tomb in Afghanistan, including Rahul Gandhi's in 2005, indicate a preference for Babur over Lord Ram. He argued that only those with faith in Lord Ram should have been invited to the ceremony.
In a social media post on X, Sarma shared a 2005 photo of Rahul Gandhi at Babur's Tomb, questioning the Congress party's apparent disdain for Lord Ram and their alleged animosity towards Hindus.
Addressing a public event, the Assam Chief Minister also asserted that Mahatma Gandhi had envisioned "Ram Rajya" and questioned Congress's opposition, asking whether it was against "Ram Rajya," Mahatma Gandhi, or B. R. Ambedkar.
Congress officially declined the invitation to the Ram Mandir consecration on January 22, stating that it is perceived as a 'BJP-RSS event' rather than a purely religious ceremony. In their statement, Congress accused the BJP and RSS of politicizing the temple project and suggested that the inauguration was expedited for electoral gains.
