To prevent confusion, the governor of Manipur commands ambulances to use special sirens

The Governor of Manipur has issued a directive emphasizing that sirens employed by ambulances and various agencies must not bear any resemblance to police sirens to mitigate potential confusion.

As articulated in the order issued by Commissioner (Home) T Ranjit, the sirens utilized in ambulance vehicles and other agencies should distinctly differ from those employed by police and law enforcement agencies in terms of both type and sound.

The directive aims to avert confusion arising from the similarity of sirens across different agencies. In light of the prevailing law and order situation in the state and the necessity for effective maintenance of law and order, the state government underscores the significance of addressing concerns related to the use of similar-sounding sirens by ambulances and law enforcement agencies. This has been identified as a potential source of confusion and panic among the general public.

Given the sensitive nature of employing identical sirens by different authorities and to preclude any potential misunderstandings among the general public, the Governor of Manipur has mandated that all sirens installed in ambulance vehicles and any agencies other than police and law enforcement agencies must distinctly differ from those used by the latter, both in type and sound, according to the statement.
