Van smashes into wall in Tamil Nadu, killing four people; compensation of Rs. two lakh announced


In Sethubavachathram, Thanjavur district, a tragic incident occurred where four individuals lost their lives, and seven others sustained severe injuries when the van they were traveling in collided with a wall. The van, carrying 11 passengers from Tuticorin to Velankanni, collided with the wall near Manora on East Coast Road in Sethubavachathram, late Friday night, according to the police.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences for the four individuals who lost their lives and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased, along with relief measures for the injured. The injured individuals were promptly taken to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were sent to the Government Hospital in Pattukottai for post-mortem examinations.

In a released statement, Chief Minister Stalin conveyed his deep sadness over the tragic incident and directed authorities to provide special treatment to the injured at the Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital. Additionally, he announced compensation of Rs 50,000 for each of the severely injured individuals and Rs 20,000 for those who sustained simple injuries.
