Amid the controversy surrounding Congress's decision to decline the invitation for the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar indirectly criticized the party, stating that individuals who assert Lord Ram is an imaginary character are 'ignorant' of history.
Expressing his distress, the Vice President refrained from direct criticism and noted that those who claim Ram is imaginary lack historical knowledge. Additionally, he underscored that the Constitution's framers have accorded paramount importance to the concept of Ram Rajya.
Upon receiving an invitation to the Ram temple event, Vice President Dhankhar publicly affirmed that the idea of Ram and the concept of Ram-Rajya are embedded in the Indian Constitution. He pointed out that the Constitution features depictions of Ram, Lakshman, and Sita among more than twenty pictures, specifically placed above the section on fundamental rights.
Addressing an event in Jaipur, the Vice President remarked, “They are disrespecting the makers of our Constitution, who have thoughtfully and judiciously placed those pictures there.”
The Congress party, on Wednesday, declined the invitation for the January 22 consecration of the Ram Temple, asserting that the event has turned political under the RSS and BJP and is not merely a religious ceremony.
In response, the BJP labeled the Congress as an 'anti-Ram' outfit, sparking a war of words between the two political entities.
