Video: Large fire breaks out at Ludhiana flyover when an oil tanker strikes a barrier


A significant incident unfolded in Ludhiana, Punjab, as dense and ebony-hued plumes of smoke ascended into the sky following a collision involving an oil tanker and a divider on a flyover near the Khanna area. The ensuing massive fire, which transpired on Wednesday, reportedly originated when the fuel-laden tanker struck a divider and overturned, leading to a standstill in traffic at the flyover and its vicinity, as highlighted by news agency ANI.

In response to the emergency, four to five fire tenders, supported by civil and police administration, promptly rushed to the scene to mitigate the escalating situation. The ongoing efforts to extinguish the flames are currently in progress, and fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported thus far.

The precise cause of the mishap remains undetermined at this juncture, with investigations ongoing. The local law enforcement, including SSP Khanna Amneet Kondal, provided updates on the incident, indicating that they received information around 12:30 pm about the oil tanker caught fire upon colliding with the divider on the flyover. The situation is reportedly under control, and traffic diversions have been implemented to manage the aftermath of the accident.

It is noteworthy that the prevailing weather conditions in various parts of Punjab, including Ludhiana and Patiala, registered minimum temperatures of 7.6 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively. Similar cold weather conditions were observed in the neighboring state of Haryana.
