Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, conveyed his sorrow regarding the recent tragic incident in which a seven-month-old boy lost his life due to a dog attack in Bhopal. In response to this distressing event, Chief Minister Yadav took the initiative to solicit suggestions from the people of the state on addressing the issue of stray dogs.
The unfortunate incident occurred in Bhopal's Ayodhya Nagar, where the child fell victim to a pack of dogs, resulting in a viral video showing the severity of the attack, including the distressing sight of his severed hand. Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Yadav directed officials to extend financial assistance amounting to Rs 4 lakh to the grieving family of the deceased child, who happen to be daily-wage workers hailing from Guna district.
Recognizing the need for public input to formulate effective preventive measures, Mohan Yadav emphasized the importance of gathering suggestions from the community to curb such incidents in the future.
Providing details of the incident, the police reported that the boy's body was exhumed on Saturday for a postmortem examination, as the family had already conducted the last rites on Wednesday. According to Ayodhya Nagar inspector Mahesh Nilhare, the child's mother had placed him on the ground while she was working nearby, and the attack occurred when a street dog targeted the infant.
In response to the incident, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation took action by capturing eight stray dogs from Ayodhya Nagar. The district collector issued directives for a comprehensive campaign aimed at capturing such stray animals to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The Chief Minister's efforts to seek public input and provide financial support underscore a commitment to addressing the challenges posed by stray dogs and ensuring the safety of the residents of Madhya Pradesh.
