On Thursday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his appreciation for the 2024-25 Interim Budget, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier in the day, labeling it as "positive". This commendation from Kumar comes in the wake of his recent alignment with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Taking to X in Hindi, the Chief Minister lauded various aspects of the interim budget, highlighting the augmentation of the loan amount for higher education and the inauguration of three Railway Economic Corridors as particularly noteworthy initiatives.
"Inaugurating three new Railway Economic Corridors will expedite the country's economic progress," he remarked.
Additionally, Kumar commended the government's decision to initiate a specialized housing scheme tailored for the middle class, citing its potential to benefit individuals residing in rented accommodations and slums.
He further emphasized that "providing a one-year tax relaxation for start-ups will catalyze industrial development efforts and enhance employment prospects for the youth".
"The enhanced allocation for MGNREGA will also bolster employment opportunities in rural areas," he added.
The Interim Budget 2024-25, unveiled by Sitharaman on Thursday morning, underscored a commitment to empowering farmers, women, youth, and the economically disadvantaged segments of society.
Just five days ago, Nitish Kumar startled the nation with his decision to terminate ties with the 'Mahagathbandhan' alliance in Bihar and forge a coalition with the BJP-led NDA to form the state government.
