This esteemed recognition was presented during the Global Mobile Awards ceremony at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), organized by GSMA. This annual event celebrates technological achievements across various categories, such as "Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough" and "Best Mobile Network Infrastructure." In the "Device" category, Google clinched the prestigious "Best Smartphone" award.
Explaining the criteria for the award, GSMA stated, "The Best Smartphone award acknowledges outstanding performance, innovation, and leadership, as assessed by leading independent analysts, journalists, and influencers, based on smartphones available in the market from January 2023 to December 2023."
Earning the top position amidst formidable competitors, the Pixel 8 series emerged as the standout smartphone lineup of 2023, surpassing contenders such as the iPhone 15 Pro series, OnePlus Open, Samsung Galaxy S23 series, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
