'Unhappy with...' is how Trinamool MP Mimi Chakraborty describes her departure

Jadavpur's Member of Parliament, Mimi Chakraborty, an acclaimed actor and a representative of the Trinamool Congress, has formally conveyed her decision to resign from her parliamentary position to the party's leader, Mamata Banerjee. This announcement comes as Chakraborty voices her dissatisfaction with the management of the local party apparatus within her electoral constituency.

Having secured victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mimi Chakraborty has represented the Jadavpur constituency.

In a breaking development, the actor took the step of tendering her resignation directly to Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, signaling her discontentment with the way her party is being managed at the grassroots level in Jadavpur. However, it's noteworthy that this action doesn't constitute her formal resignation from her parliamentary duties, as she has yet to submit her resignation to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

Following her meeting with Mamata Banerjee, Mimi Chakraborty addressed the media, explaining, "I met our party's leader today. I handed in my resignation to her on February 13. Over the years, I have come to realize that politics may not be my forte."

In response to queries about why she chose to present her resignation to Mamata Banerjee rather than following parliamentary protocol by directly approaching the Lok Sabha Speaker, Chakraborty clarified, "Once I receive approval from the Trinamool Congress, I will proceed to forward it to the Speaker."

When pressed further about whether issues with the local party leadership played a role in her decision-making process, Chakraborty admitted, "I cannot disregard that factor."

Emphasizing her commitment to her own peace of mind, Chakraborty asserted, "I am unwilling to compromise on my mental well-being. I refuse to remain in a situation where my happiness is compromised."
