A decade has swiftly passed since the release of Vikas Bahl's cinematic gem 'Queen', starring Kangana Ranaut, which unexpectedly became a sensation upon hitting the silver screen. With its memorable storyline and Ranaut's stellar performance, the film garnered widespread acclaim, cementing its status as a cult classic. Now, as the milestone anniversary approaches, Bahl has delighted fans with a long-awaited update: the script for the highly anticipated sequel, aptly titled 'Queen 2', is now finalized and awaiting its turn in the spotlight.

In a recent interview with News18, while discussing his upcoming supernatural thriller 'Shaitaan', Bahl seized the opportunity to share the exciting news regarding the sequel that enthusiasts have eagerly awaited for years. Confirming the development after numerous speculations, Bahl, who had announced the sequel's conception with Ranaut set to reprise her iconic role as Rani, enthusiastically exclaimed, "Yessss (sic)."

Reflecting on the enduring popularity of 'Queen' and the persistent inquiries about its sequel, Bahl expressed his gratitude, remarking, "It is going to be ten years of 'Queen’s release but the number of people who keep asking me about 'Queen 2' makes me feel like the film released just yesterday! However, I am happy to say that we have actually finished writing our story. So, yes, the sequel should happen."

Delving into the reasons behind the sequel's delay, Bahl candidly shared, "Na shohrat, na paisa, bas pyaar mein hi chal raha hai mera (laughs)." Despite acknowledging the financial potential of capitalizing on the success of 'Queen', Bahl emphasized the importance of crafting a narrative that would resonate with audiences on the same level as its predecessor. This meticulous approach, although time-consuming, underscores the dedication to delivering a sequel that lives up to the high standards set by the original masterpiece.

In the interim, 'Queen' continues to captivate audiences with its poignant tale of self-discovery, chronicling the transformative journey of a young woman who embarks on a solo honeymoon to Europe following a heart-wrenching betrayal. Alongside Kangana Ranaut's compelling portrayal, the film features noteworthy performances by Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon, further enhancing its allure and enduring appeal.

Meanwhile, as anticipation mounts for the release of 'Queen 2', Vikas Bahl is currently focused on the imminent premiere of his latest directorial venture, 'Shaitaan'. Starring an ensemble cast including R Madhavan, Ajay Devgn, and Jyotika in pivotal roles, the supernatural thriller is slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2024, promising audiences another captivating cinematic experience.
