AAP intends to use the wives of imprisoned leaders as a focal point for emotional appeal: Sources

Sources have revealed to India Today TV that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is devising a strategy to enhance the visibility of the spouses of its incarcerated leaders as a means to evoke emotional resonance among voters in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Spearheaded by Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has already delivered two poignant messages from her husband's stead following his recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, the AAP aims to capitalize on the empathy generated by such public appearances.

AAP insiders suggest that the spotlight will not be limited to Sunita Kejriwal alone. The party is contemplating orchestrating the public presence of the spouses of two other jailed AAP leaders, namely Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, in the days to come.

Seema Sisodia, the wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who has previously shared heartfelt expressions amidst her husband's legal predicament, may step into a more visible role. Despite battling a rare ailment, Seema Sisodia has shown resilience, engaging with students of Delhi government schools. However, she refrained from overt political activities following her husband's arrest in 2023.

Similarly, Poonam Jain, the wife of former Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has maintained a low profile thus far, could potentially be thrust into the public eye under the new strategic initiative.

Additionally, AAP MP Sanjay Singh's wife, Anita Singh, may also be enlisted to participate in this endeavor. Anita Singh has demonstrated political advocacy regarding her husband's parliamentary protests and subsequent detention by the Enforcement Directorate. She actively manages Sanjay Singh's official accounts, ensuring his continued engagement with supporters despite his incarceration.

The party is exploring various avenues to amplify the presence of the spouses of the incarcerated leaders, including organizing public rallies at prominent venues like the Ramleela Ground, disseminating video messages, or coordinating joint press conferences. These efforts aim to leverage the emotional connection forged with voters through personal narratives and appeals for justice.
