Nitish Kumar in Delhi today; NDA's Bihar seat-sharing announcement is probably coming

During his anticipated four-day journey to Delhi, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is poised to engage in discussions with key leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to finalize the seat-sharing arrangement within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the impending Lok Sabha elections in the state. These elections, comprising 40 Lok Sabha seats, are scheduled to take place over seven phases on April 19, 26, May 7, 13, 20, 25, and June 1, as per the Election Commission of India's announced timetable. Notably, six constituencies - Arrah, Begusarai, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Kishanganj, and Hajipur - previously witnessed a complete sweep by the BJP-led NDA in the preceding electoral cycle.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to arrive in the national capital around 8:15 pm today, with plans to return to Patna by Thursday. The much-anticipated announcement regarding seat distribution is anticipated during Nitish Kumar's stay in Delhi, a significant moment given his return to the BJP earlier this year. Against the backdrop of recent deliberations both in Delhi and Patna concerning seat allocations, the timing of Nitish Kumar's visit assumes paramount importance.

Simultaneously, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is also scheduled to be present in Delhi today for crucial discussions regarding seat-sharing with the Congress and Left parties. It is anticipated that an agreement will be reached shortly.

Notably, during a recent address after the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Mumbai, Tejashwi Yadav emphasized the importance of safeguarding India's Constitution, fostering unity, and combating divisiveness, while also expressing confidence about the electoral prospects in Bihar. Furthermore, in an interview with the ANI news agency, Tejashwi Yadav raised pertinent questions about the developmental efforts in Bihar over the past decade, emphasizing the need for concrete action and critiquing the efficacy of the initiatives undertaken by the BJP-led NDA government.
