Nowadays, mobile phones allow users to discreetly record calls. Here's how

Nothing, the innovative tech company founded by Carl Pei, has unveiled a new feature that enables users to discreetly record phone calls without alerting other participants. Carl Pei shared this announcement on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, highlighting the inclusion of this functionality in Nothing's phones, including the existing models such as Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2, as well as the newly introduced Phone 2a. This discreet call recording capability is made possible through a new recorder widget seamlessly integrated into Nothing's devices.

Previously, individuals using Nothing phones had to rely on the default recording option within the Google dialer, which typically notifies all parties involved in the call about the recording. However, with the introduction of the new recorder widget, users can now initiate call recording covertly without raising any notifications to others on the call. This feature is accessible through the recorder widget, providing users with a discreet and convenient method for recording phone conversations.

Pei underscored that the implementation of this feature stemmed from the feedback and requests of Nothing's user community. Despite concerns surrounding potential misuse, Pei clarified that the primary intention behind introducing discreet call recording is to empower users and safeguard them from undesirable situations. Furthermore, Pei hinted at forthcoming enhancements by mentioning Nothing's ongoing efforts to revamp the notifications panel on their devices, although specific details regarding these changes were not disclosed.

In addition to this notable update, Nothing has recently launched its latest smartphone offering, the Phone 2a, priced affordably under Rs 25,000. Priced at Rs 23,999, the Phone 2a is the most budget-friendly 5G phone offered by Nothing. The device's first sale is scheduled for March 12, and interested buyers can purchase it through various retail channels including Flipkart, Croma, and Vijay Sales, among others. HDFC bank cardholders can enjoy an instant discount of Rs 2,000, effectively reducing the price to Rs 21,999. Additionally, there is an exchange offer of Rs 2,000 available for those considering trading in their old devices, as per the details provided by Nothing.

Furthermore, Nothing has also introduced the CMF Neckband Pro, its latest wireless earbuds, which are currently available in India for Rs 1,999. However, during the introductory period, the earbuds are offered at a discounted price of Rs 1,799, although the duration of this offer remains unspecified.
