Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff, leaves for an official visit to France

CDS General Anil Chauhan embarked on an official visit to France on Sunday, with the primary objective of strengthening the already robust defence ties between the two nations.

During his visit, General Chauhan is set to engage with senior civil and military leaders of France, including his counterpart, French CDS (CEMA) General Thierry Burkhard, as well as officials from the National Institute for Higher Defence Studies (IHEDN) and the Directorate General of Armament.

In addition to these meetings, General Chauhan will also visit key military commands such as the French Space Command and the Land Forces Command. He will address student officers at the Ecole Militaire (School of Military) as part of his itinerary.

Furthermore, the CDS will explore collaborations with renowned defence industries in France, including the Safran Group, Naval Group, and Dassault Aviation.

As a gesture of remembrance and respect, General Chauhan will pay tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the First World War. He will visit memorials such as the Neuve-Chappelle Memorial and the Indian Memorial at Villers-Guislain, where he will lay a wreath in their honour.
