Arvinder Lovely disputes ever joining a party following his resignation from Congress

Arvinder Singh Lovely's resignation as the Delhi Congress chief today was clarified by him, emphasizing that his decision was not influenced by any dissatisfaction over ticket distribution for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He asserted his commitment to the Congress party, stating that he has no intentions of joining any other political entity and will continue to actively engage with party workers.

Lovely attributed his resignation to his steadfast dedication to upholding the principles of the Congress party, rather than any disagreement regarding ticket allocation. He voiced concerns about interference in his leadership by Congress General Secretary Deepak Babaria, a key factor contributing to his decision to step down from his role just days ahead of the crucial polls in the national capital.

Expressing his loyalty to the Congress cause, Lovely clarified that his resignation pertained solely to his position as the President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and not his membership in the party. He reiterated his commitment to interacting with party workers and championing their interests, underscoring that his resignation was a symbolic gesture aimed at advocating for the welfare of Congress workers.

While acknowledging the alliance between Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the electoral arena, Lovely emphasized that this partnership did not equate to endorsing the AAP's governance record, particularly about schools and hospitals. He stressed that the Congress and its workers had not absolved the AAP of any shortcomings or credited them for specific achievements in these domains.

In his resignation letter addressed to the party chief, Lovely raised concerns about Babaria's alleged interference in his leadership and the unilateral vetoing of decisions made by senior Delhi unit leaders. Additionally, he criticized the party's North East Delhi candidate Kanhaiya Kumar for his praise of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Responding to Lovely's resignation, Babaria suggested that Lovely's actions may have been prompted by external pressures, although he refrained from providing further details on the matter.

As Delhi prepares for the pivotal Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 25, the resignation of Arvinder Singh Lovely underscores the internal challenges and strategic dynamics within the Congress party, highlighting the complexity of electoral alliances and leadership dynamics in the lead-up to the polls.
