Mayank Yadav is a gem, and BCCI must support him: Bishop Ian

In a recent column for ESPNcricinfo, former fast bowler turned commentator Ian Bishop highlighted the potential of LSG's pace sensation Mayank Yadav and emphasized the importance of the BCCI taking proactive measures to nurture his talent. Mayank, who made an impressive debut in the IPL 2024, has unfortunately been sidelined due to a hip injury sustained during his third game against GT. His absence from subsequent matches has raised concerns about his recovery and future participation in the tournament.

Bishop likened Mayank to a "diamond" for his natural ability to bowl at pace and maintain good lengths, stressing the need for him to be guided and supported effectively. Drawing parallels with Australian cricketer Pat Cummins, Bishop noted Cummins' journey of overcoming injuries early in his career and eventually evolving into one of the best fast bowlers and captains in the world.

Highlighting Cummins' example, Bishop suggested that Mayank could benefit from similar support and rehabilitation strategies to navigate through the challenges of professional cricket. He proposed that both Lucknow Super Giants and the BCCI should collaborate to provide Mayank with a dedicated support staff, including a personal strength-and-conditioning trainer, a medical professional, and a dietician, to aid in his development and recovery.

Bishop emphasized the importance of investing in Mayank's well-being and development from the outset of his career, recognizing his potential as a valuable asset for Indian cricket. By providing tailored support and resources, Bishop believes that Mayank can overcome setbacks and fulfill his potential as a top-quality fast bowler for years to come.
