Neha Hiremath case: Karnataka murder accused's mother denies 'love jihad' claims, says 'she made first move'

The tragic incident involving the killing of Neha Hiremath by 23-year-old Fayaz in Hubballi has sparked discussions about the circumstances of their relationship and the motivations behind the crime. Fayaz's mother, Mumtaz, has refuted the notion of 'love jihad' and emphasized that Neha and Fayaz were in a relationship based on mutual affection.

According to Mumtaz, Fayaz had been suffering from depression and had been inactive for some time prior to the incident. Mumtaz disclosed that Neha was the one who initiated contact with Fayaz after he achieved success in a bodybuilding competition, and their relationship developed over time.

While acknowledging her son's role in Neha's death, Mumtaz expressed deep remorse and apologized to the people of Karnataka and Neha's family for the tragedy. She emphasized that her son's actions were entirely unjust and deserving of strict legal consequences.

In response to political assertions regarding 'love jihad,' Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed such claims, condemning attempts to politicize the incident for partisan gain. He affirmed that the murder was not a case of 'love jihad' and assured that the government was committed to ensuring justice through a thorough investigation and legal proceedings.

The focus remains on addressing the tragic loss of Neha Hiremath's life and delivering justice for the crime committed while rejecting attempts to exploit the situation for political purposes. The priority lies in upholding law and order and fostering peace and harmony in the aftermath of this distressing incident.
