The army is accused by Imran Khan's former party of kidnapping his nephew

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by the incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has condemned the alleged abduction of Khan's nephew, Hassan Niazi, and another PTI leader, Ibad Farooq, from military custody. The party spokesperson characterized the incident as an attempt to exert pressure on Imran Khan, who has been unlawfully detained for over eight months.

According to PTI, over 100 party leaders and workers have been held in military custody, facing trials for their alleged involvement in attacking key military installations following Imran Khan's arrest in a corruption case. The party views these detentions as political revenge orchestrated by the authorities.

The PTI spokesperson strongly condemned the abduction of Hassan Niazi and Ibad Farooq, demanding their immediate release and accountability for those responsible. He criticized the practice of trying civilians under military laws, labeling it as unconstitutional.

The spokesperson denounced the targeting of Imran Khan's family members, calling it a shameful tactic aimed at pressuring the PTI leader. He emphasized that such coercive measures undermine the sanctity of law and justice and violate basic human and constitutional rights.

The PTI spokesperson urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to intervene and ensure the safe recovery of Hassan Niazi and Ibad Farooq, holding the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

Imran Khan himself had previously accused Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir of being directly involved in his wife's imprisonment and warned of consequences if anything happened to her. These allegations reflect the high tensions and political stakes involved in the current situation in Pakistan.
