Videos: Houses in some US states are damaged by tornadoes, and more information on the prediction

Destructive tornadoes wreaked havoc on the city of Omaha, Nebraska, and parts of Iowa on Friday afternoon, causing significant damage to hundreds of homes and structures in the affected areas. The storms resulted in three reported injuries as they tore through farmland and suburban neighborhoods.

Reports indicated that multiple tornadoes touched down in at least five states, with the most severe storm moving from rural regions into the suburbs northwest of Omaha, a major city with a sizable population. Additionally, the severe weather outbreak on Friday led to 19 destructive squalls and 45 hailstorms across various regions.

Images and videos circulated on social media depicted the aftermath of the storms, showing demolished homes, uprooted trees, and rooftops torn off in rural areas near Omaha. Law enforcement authorities blocked off roads in the impacted zones to ensure safety and facilitate emergency response efforts.

Omaha police Lieutenant Neal Bonacci confirmed that hundreds of houses sustained damage, particularly in the Elkhorn area of the city's western region. Door-to-door searches were underway by police and firefighters to assist individuals who may be trapped or in need of aid.

Omaha Fire Chief Kathy Bossman outlined plans for a systematic search of the hardest-hit areas, prioritizing properties with significant damage. In Elkhorn, where some homes suffered extensive destruction, emergency crews were mobilized to provide assistance and conduct rescue operations.

Eyewitnesses described the terrifying experience of witnessing the tornado touch down and the immediate aftermath of the storm's passage. Pat Woods, a resident of Elkhorn, recounted the sudden destruction of the neighborhood and the frantic efforts to seek shelter.

Despite the devastation, there were fortunate outcomes, such as the safe evacuation of three individuals, including a child, from a demolished house. Only minor injuries were reported, with two individuals requiring transportation for treatment.

The tornado's path extended into Iowa after crossing the Missouri River, affecting areas north of Council Bluffs. Daniel Fienhold, a local resident, witnessed the storm's formation and expressed concern about its intensity as it approached his town.

Forecasters issued tornado warnings across several states for the following day, emphasizing the potential for large hail and strong winds, underscoring the ongoing threat posed by severe weather conditions in the region.
