The Delhi Police conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations made by AAP MP Swati Maliwal regarding the assault by a member of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's staff. Led by an Additional Commissioner of Police, the team spent nearly four hours at Maliwal's residence, gathering details and recording her statement regarding the incident involving Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar.
According to sources within the Delhi Police, Maliwal provided a comprehensive account of the assault and the events leading up to her call to the Police Control Room (PCR) on Monday. It is reported that an FIR will be filed soon, with the police consulting legal experts on the matter.
Maliwal, a former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and currently serving as an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, had initially raised allegations of assault against Kumar on Monday. Although she did not file a formal complaint at the time, AAP later confirmed the allegations and assured stern action against the accused. Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh condemned the incident during a press conference, affirming the party's stance on the matter.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Bibhav Kumar to appear before the agency for a hearing on Friday at 11 AM. However, Arvind Kejriwal has remained silent on the issue, prompting criticism from BJP leaders, who staged a protest near his residence on Wednesday. Kumar, being a significant figure in the Chief Minister's office, has become central to the controversy surrounding the incident.
