OxygenOS 15 has been announced, with an October 30 release date. List of Features and Everything Else to Know

OnePlus has officially announced the launch of **OxygenOS 15**, the latest iteration of its custom Android skin, designed to deliver enhanced performance, advanced AI capabilities, and a minimalistic user interface. As OnePlus aims to refine the smartphone experience, users can look forward to a range of innovative features and improvements that enhance functionality and usability. The **OnePlus 12** will be the first device to receive this latest software update, marking a significant milestone for OnePlus users. The first open beta version of OxygenOS 15 is set to be released on **October 30**, creating excitement among tech enthusiasts and early adopters eager to explore the new functionalities.

OnePlus emphasizes that **OxygenOS 15** will introduce substantial improvements that are expected to enhance the overall performance and efficiency of its devices. The update promises smoother animations, with early previews showcasing impressive visual fluidity. Users are encouraged to look forward to an engaging experience as they navigate through their devices with these improvements.

The first feature, **Parallel Processing**, allows users to open and close up to 20 applications simultaneously at a speed surpassing that of iOS, ensuring smooth transitions without any jitters or delays. OxygenOS 15 will utilize 20% less storage space compared to its predecessor, OxygenOS 14, which is particularly beneficial for users of next-gen OnePlus flagship phones.

**AI Detail Boost** can elevate low-resolution or cropped images to 4K quality, while it also identifies pixelated images and enhances clarity with a single click, making photo editing seamless. **AI Unblur** tackles blurry images effectively, working autonomously without the need for third-party applications to clarify images. The **AI Reflection Eraser** removes both prominent and subtle reflections from photos with just one tap, providing users with cleaner images.

**Intelligent Search** enhances on-device search capabilities, enabling users to conduct searches through natural, human-like queries. Users can seek answers in files, settings, or notes, as Intelligent Search interprets input to deliver relevant results. The **Circle to Search** feature allows users to quickly search for items in photos or videos by drawing a circle or highlighting on the screen, efficiently finding related images on the internet via Google.

**Pass Scan** enables users to swiftly scan both paper and digital boarding passes directly through the camera or photo album. **AI Notes** facilitates note-taking by allowing users to format, expand, or condense content as needed, supporting voice commands to transcribe spoken thoughts while eliminating unnecessary fillers for polished notes. **AI Reply**, integrated within the AI Toolbox, generates contextually appropriate replies for conversations in chat applications, enhancing communication efficiency.

In an exciting addition, OnePlus will integrate the **Google Gemini app** as the default AI assistant in upcoming flagship devices. This integration will allow users to receive real-time responses, brainstorm ideas, simplify complex topics, and practice for important occasions. Gemini Live will support over 40 languages and offers voice interaction capabilities.

OxygenOS 15 also introduces several design updates, including a refreshed boot animation, new icon designs, more options for shelf cards, and additional fingerprint unlock styles. The update will feature a new **OnePlus OneTake** capability, enabling users to extract elements from photos to use as lock screen wallpapers. The **Share with iPhone** feature simplifies file transfers between OnePlus and iPhone devices, allowing users to exchange documents, images, and videos effortlessly. Aesthetic enhancements, such as **Shimmering Effects** and **Gaussian Blur**, will be applied across various system elements, including settings, notification bars, and control centers.

Security has been a priority in OxygenOS 15. The update will introduce a **theft protection feature** that locks the device upon detecting typical theft behavior. Additional security measures include a remote lock function, allowing users to secure their phone using their phone number, and an offline lock mechanism that activates if the phone remains offline for an extended period. Sensitive actions, such as disabling theft protection or the FindMyDevice function, will require biometric verification.

As per OnePlus's standard procedure, beta versions will be rolled out first, followed by stable versions for the public. The first open beta version of **OxygenOS 15** is scheduled for release on **October 30**, initially targeting the OnePlus 12. While the company has confirmed only the OnePlus 12 for the initial update, there is anticipation for other models, including the **OnePlus Nord 4**, **OnePlus 12R**, **OnePlus Nord CE 4**, and **OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite** to receive the update soon. There are also expectations that the **OnePlus Open**, as a premium device, will be included in the rollout.

As for older OnePlus devices, while no official list has been released, it is likely that OnePlus will extend the **OxygenOS 15** update to several other models in the future. **OxygenOS 15** represents a significant step forward for OnePlus, integrating cutting-edge AI features and design improvements aimed at enhancing user experience and device efficiency. With its upcoming release, OnePlus is set to reinforce its commitment to delivering innovative and responsive software solutions to its user base.
