Qualcomm has officially launched its Snapdragon X platform for laptops in India, bringing AI-driven computing, enhanced battery life, and next-gen connectivity to a new category of ultra-thin and lightweight machines. The Snapdragon X platform, which is more powerful than Qualcomm’s smartphone chips, is specifically designed to handle AI-related tasks efficiently while maintaining long-lasting battery performance.
Performance and AI Capabilities
At the core of the Snapdragon X platform is Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU, which the company claims delivers up to 163% faster performance compared to competing Intel Core i5 chips at the same power level. This major leap in efficiency is expected to offer users a seamless computing experience, whether for professional workloads, AI-intensive applications, or general multitasking.
One of the standout features of the Snapdragon X platform is its AI performance. Qualcomm has stated that the platform can deliver up to 45 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second), significantly boosting AI-driven tasks like:
- Photo and video editing with AI-assisted enhancements
- Real-time language translation and speech-to-text applications
- On-device AI processing for automation and intelligent recommendations
In addition to AI enhancements, the platform includes an integrated GPU, ensuring smooth graphics for tasks like web browsing, content streaming, and light creative work.
Connectivity & Additional Features
Qualcomm has equipped the Snapdragon X platform with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G support, ensuring fast and reliable internet connectivity—a crucial feature for professionals and students in India. The company also emphasized the importance of 5G adoption in India, where demand for high-speed internet connectivity is growing rapidly.
For audio quality, the platform integrates Snapdragon Sound Technology, which enhances wireless listening experiences, particularly for Bluetooth headsets and speakers.
First Laptops Powered by Snapdragon X
Two laptops have been introduced in India with the new Snapdragon X platform:
- Asus Vivobook 16 – Starting at ₹65,990
- Asus Zenbook A14 – Starting at ₹99,999
Both laptops are now available for pre-order, offering thin and lightweight designs, powerful performance, and long battery life—a combination Qualcomm is aiming for with its new laptop chipset strategy.
Availability & Retail Partnerships
Qualcomm has partnered with major Indian retailers like Croma and Flipkart to sell Snapdragon X-powered laptops. To enhance customer experience, Qualcomm has also launched an offline Experience Zone at Croma in Mumbai, where users can get a hands-on feel of the Snapdragon ecosystem.
For online sales, the laptops will be available via Flipkart Minutes, a service that promises delivery within 10 minutes, making it more convenient for buyers.
Qualcomm’s Vision for AI-Powered Computing in India
Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President & General Manager, of computing and Gaming at Qualcomm, highlighted that the Snapdragon X platform is designed to expand AI-powered computing access to a broader audience in India. He emphasized that Qualcomm aims to bring advanced computing experiences to more users while keeping them affordable and accessible.
With AI-focused performance, long battery life, and ultra-fast connectivity, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform is set to challenge Intel and AMD in the laptop market while catering to India’s growing demand for high-performance, energy-efficient computing devices.
