Watch: Rohit Sharma stands in front of the Burj Khalifa with his two ICC trophies

India captain Rohit Sharma celebrated his latest ICC triumph by posing with both his ICC trophies in front of the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai. After leading India to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, he now holds back-to-back ICC titles, having also captained the team to the T20 World Cup 2024 win. Rohit was joined by ICC Chairman Jay Shah in the celebratory moment.

While Rohit's performances earlier in the tournament were modest, with 104 runs from four innings at an average of 26, he stepped up in the final with a captain’s knock. His 76 off 83 balls set the foundation for India’s chase of 252. He played his trademark pull shot for a massive six early in his innings and reached his first-ever fifty in an ICC final in just 41 balls. Eventually, he was dismissed for 76, stumped by Rachin Ravindra.

After Rohit's departure, Shreyas Iyer (48) and Axar Patel (29) steadied the innings with a crucial 61-run partnership. KL Rahul (34*), Hardik Pandya (18), and Ravindra Jadeja (9*) then ensured India reached the target in 49 overs. Jadeja sealed the win with a boundary off William O’Rourke, sparking celebrations.

Rohit was named Player of the Match for his decisive knock, marking a historic moment for India as they secured back-to-back ICC trophies under his captaincy for the first time in their cricketing history.
