Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 121st episode of his radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, calling it a desperate act by the enemies of Kashmir and of India itself, aimed at derailing the region’s remarkable progress. Modi highlighted how Kashmir has undergone a positive transformation in recent years, marked by a booming tourism sector, vibrant educational institutions, and a surge in opportunities for the youth. He said the return of peace, the strengthening of democracy, and the rise in development had frustrated those who patronize terrorism, leading them to orchestrate such attacks.
Reflecting on the tragedy, where 26 people lost their lives, PM Modi said that this heinous act was an attempt to drag Kashmir back into violence and chaos. "The enemies of Jammu and Kashmir and the country did not like the peace and prosperity. Terrorists want to destroy Kashmir once again," he said. However, he firmly assured that such attempts would not succeed and that Kashmir would continue on its path of peace and development.
Modi also mentioned that global leaders had reached out to him through calls, letters, and messages—to condemn the attack and to express their solidarity with India. "The entire world stands with the 1.4 billion Indians in our fight against terrorism," he affirmed.
In a powerful message from Bihar, Modi promised the nation that those responsible for the attack would face justice. He vowed that India would trace every terrorist and their backers and ensure they receive a punishment harsher than they could ever imagine. Stressing that India's spirit would never be broken by such acts of terror, he said, "India will pursue them to the ends of the Earth."
PM Modi closed by reassuring the families of the victims that terrorism would not go unpunished and that the country would spare no effort to ensure justice for the innocent lives lost.
