The makers of Stolen released the trailer on Wednesday, introducing audiences to this gripping investigative crime thriller starring Abhishek Banerjee in the lead role. Directed by debutant Karan Tejpal, the film promises a powerful, emotional story centered on loss and the fight for justice.
The trailer opens with a heart-wrenching scene at a deserted railway station where a young mother, Jhumpa (played by Mia Maelzer, known from Beyond the Clouds), wakes up to find her baby missing. This devastating moment triggers a tense and emotional journey as two brothers, Gautam (Banerjee) and Raman (Shubham Vardhan), risk everything to find the child. Their search plunges them into a dark, dangerous world where survival is a daily struggle and justice is elusive.
Banerjee expressed his enthusiasm for the project, calling Stolen “India’s answer to raw, genre-driven filmmaking.” He said, “The day I heard the story, I knew I wanted to be in the driver’s seat — just like my character, Gautam.”
Mia Maelzer also praised the film and director Karan Tejpal, saying, “‘Stolen’ has been a profound journey for me as an actor. Karan’s vision and sensitivity created a space where authenticity could truly flourish. Portraying Jhumpa meant delving into a character layered with complexity and emotional depth, a challenge that pushed my boundaries.”
Besides Banerjee, Maelzer, and Vardhan, the cast includes Harish Khanna and Sahidur Rahaman. The film deeply explores emotions like loss, helplessness, and moral struggle.
Stolen will premiere on Prime Video on June 4, 2025, and will be available to stream in India as well as over 240 countries and regions worldwide.
