After leaving the IPL, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka shares a sweet photo of himself with Rishabh Pant

The Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) hopes for a top-four finish in IPL 2025 ended after their loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 19. Despite putting up a strong 205 runs batting first, LSG’s bowlers couldn’t hold off Hyderabad’s chase, with Abhishek Sharma’s 59 and Heinrich Klaasen’s 47 guiding SRH home comfortably with 10 balls to spare. This defeat officially knocked LSG out of the play-offs race, as they needed to win all three remaining matches to qualify.

Following the game, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka shared a heartwarming photo with key players like Rishabh Pant, Akash Deep, and Shardul Thakur, showing his support despite the disappointment. On social media, Goenka acknowledged the challenging second half of the season but emphasized that the team’s spirit, effort, and flashes of brilliance offer a solid foundation for the future. He encouraged the team to finish the remaining two games with pride.

LSG will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on May 22 and conclude their campaign at home against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 27.

Reflecting on the season, LSG started strong by winning four out of their first seven matches, but their form nosedived afterward, managing only one win in the last five games. This slump coincided with poor batting performances from key players like Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant, which played a big role in their inability to maintain momentum in the race for the play-offs.
