Australia's World Test Championship final roster includes Cameron Green again

Australia have announced a formidable 15-member squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2025 against South Africa, set to begin on June 11 at Kensington Oval, Barbados — not Lord’s as initially expected. The biggest development is the return of Cameron Green, the talented all-rounder, who is making his comeback after almost a year on the sidelines due to a serious back injury and subsequent spine surgery.

Cameron Green Returns:

  • Last played for Australia in September 2024.

  • Missed the 2024-25 home summer and IPL 2025.

  • Made a strong comeback with a century for Gloucestershire in county cricket.

  • While he’s resumed batting, he’s yet to resume bowling — something the team will monitor closely.

Squad Strength and Composition:

Australia are going into the final with a balanced blend of experience and youth:

Australia Squad for WTC Final vs South Africa:

  • Pat Cummins (c)

  • Scott Boland

  • Alex Carey (wk)

  • Cameron Green

  • Josh Hazlewood

  • Travis Head

  • Josh Inglis (wk)

  • Usman Khawaja

  • Sam Konstas

  • Matthew Kuhnemann

  • Marnus Labuschagne

  • Nathan Lyon

  • Steve Smith

  • Mitchell Starc

  • Beau Webster

  • Brendan Doggett (travelling reserve)

Key Talking Points:

  • Pace Attack: Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, and Boland make up a deadly fast bowling quartet.

  • Spin Duo: Nathan Lyon brings experience, while Kuhnemann adds variety as a left-arm option.

  • Middle-order Depth: Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Green offer stability and aggression.

  • Beau Webster, who impressed during the BGT series and against Sri Lanka, continues to hold his spot as a valuable all-round backup.

  • Sam Konstas, a promising youngster, is included and could gain vital exposure.

  • Two wicketkeepers — Carey and Inglis — give flexibility with the gloves and batting.

What’s Next:

  • Australia will carry the same squad into their three-match Test series against West Indies starting June 30.

  • The WTC Final clash promises to be fiery, especially with South Africa in prime form and Australia eager to lift their second WTC title.

With a fully fit Green, a firing pace battery, and an experienced batting lineup, Australia are looking to dominate the WTC Final stage once again — and avenge their recent shortcomings on the Test front.
