Celebrities like Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh recall makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad: Real master


National award-winning makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad passed away on Saturday at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of transformative work in Indian cinema. His passing has deeply affected the film industry, with several Bollywood celebrities paying tribute to him for his exceptional talent and mastery over his craft.

Aamir Khan, who worked with Gaikwad on films like PK, Dangal, and Rang De Basanti, shared a heartfelt note remembering the legendary artist. In his tribute, Khan called Gaikwad a "true master of his craft" and praised his ability to transform actors into unforgettable characters. "Heartfelt condolences to the family from me, and everyone at AKP. We will miss you Dada," Aamir Khan wrote on his Instagram story.

Arjun Kapoor shared a photo of Gaikwad and reflected on their collaboration in Panipat. He described Gaikwad as a "gentle soul with a gracious stroke of genius" and expressed admiration for the artist’s work.

Varun Dhawan also recalled working with Gaikwad on Badlapur and thanked him for helping design his look in the film. "A true magician who pushed Indian cinema ahead," Dhawan wrote, followed by "Om shanti."

Sonam Kapoor shared an emotional tribute, thanking Gaikwad for his work on her looks in various films, writing, "Thank you for making me Bittu, Aayat, and many more and for your love and support."

Anushka Sharma shared a photo of Gaikwad with the caption "RIP Dada Om Shanti," while Parineeti Chopra expressed her gratitude, saying, "It was an honor to work with you, learn from you, see your magic. Eternally in awe of you."

Vikram Gaikwad's career spanned across Hindi, Marathi, and South Indian cinema, and his contributions were celebrated both in India and abroad. He worked on several iconic films such as 83, Shakuntala Devi, Sanju, Omkara, Ponniyin Selvan, and Balgandharva, to name a few. Gaikwad won the National Award for Best Makeup Artist for his work on The Dirty Picture in 2012, followed by another win for his work on the Bengali film Jaatishwar in 2014.

His passing has left a void in the industry, but his legacy will live on through the countless characters he helped bring to life on the big screen.
