Due to security concerns, Air India and IndiGo have canceled flights to several cities today

Amid heightened security concerns and precautionary airspace restrictions due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, IndiGo and Air India have suspended flight operations to several northern and western Indian cities for May 13.

Affected Airports:

  • IndiGo has cancelled all flights to and from:

    • Srinagar

    • Jammu

    • Amritsar

    • Leh

    • Chandigarh

    • Rajkot

  • Air India has suspended two-way flights to and from:

    • Jammu

    • Leh

    • Jodhpur

    • Amritsar

    • Bhuj

    • Jamnagar

    • Chandigarh

    • Rajkot

Both airlines stated they are monitoring the situation closely and will update passengers on developments. IndiGo acknowledged the inconvenience and assured customers of timely updates. Air India confirmed it is preparing to gradually resume operations, following notification from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) about the reopening of airports.

Triggering Incidents:

  • A precautionary blackout was enforced in Amritsar, causing an IndiGo flight to return to Delhi Monday evening.

  • Reports emerged of drone sightings in Samba, Akhnoor, Jaisalmer, and Kathua.

  • Indian Army sources, however, clarified that no recent drone activity was detected, the ceasefire remains intact, and there is no cause for alarm.

Despite AAI lifting restrictions, airlines are proceeding with caution, prioritizing passenger safety. Air defence systems reportedly intercepted Pakistani drones in the Samba sector, with visible explosions in the night sky, but military officials downplayed any major threat.

Passengers traveling to affected cities are advised to check with airlines for the latest updates and rescheduling options.
