Ghus ke baith jaana iss baar ghar mein ghus: Asaduddin Owaisi's POK suggestion to the govt

In a charged and confrontational statement, AIMIM chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday urged the central government to abandon mere rhetoric and instead take bold, decisive action against Pakistan in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and persistent threats along the Line of Control (LoC). Addressing a press conference, Owaisi was responding to unconfirmed reports suggesting that Pakistani military forces have vacated some border posts and that certain elite families have fled to places like London amid rising regional tensions.

“If your news is correct, then it is very good; we should go and take over the place. Don’t leave it this time,” he said, referring to the reports of troop withdrawal. In a scathing challenge to the government’s current approach, he added, “Iss baar ghar mein ghus kar baith jana,” which roughly translates to “This time, don’t just strike — go in and take over.” His remarks echoed the nationalistic sentiments often used by BJP leaders but pushed for actual territorial action, particularly in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Owaisi accused the BJP-led Union government of falling short of its own promises. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's post-Pulwama 2019 rhetoric of “ghar me ghus ke maarenge” (we will enter their territory and hit them), he questioned why the government had not seized terrorist launch pad zones across the LoC back then. “I wish in 2019, Narendra Modi had acquired the launching pad lands from where terrorists operate,” he said. “They said they would go and kill them in their land; this time, go there and just take over.

He further reinforced his stance by citing India’s official claim over PoK, highlighting that a resolution has already been passed by Parliament stating that PoK is an integral part of Indian territory. “Then act on it. Fulfill what the Parliament has resolved. Take action this time — don’t stop at just symbolic gestures or surgical strikes.

The Hyderabad MP also drew attention to the long list of terror attacks that have shaken the nation, from the Lumbini Park and Dilsukhnagar bombings in Hyderabad, to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and the Pulwama suicide bombing in 2019. “A Telugu pandit lost his daughter. A bride from Nizamabad was killed at VT Station in Mumbai with mehendi still on her hands. Last year, seven pilgrims were killed near Vaishno Devi. The blood of innocents has been shed repeatedly.”

Owaisi also criticised what he sees as the failure of successive governments — including the present one — to break this cycle of violence. He argued that strong, sustained military action and territorial control over key launch areas could offer a more long-term deterrent than one-off strikes or diplomatic rebukes.

He concluded by asserting that India’s response must now match the scale of the threat, and said the ball was firmly in the ruling party’s court: “You are in power, you have the mandate, and you have the machinery. You must bring an end to this cycle of terror once and for all. The time for words is over. It’s time to act decisively.”
