Delhi Capitals (DC) have secured Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladesh fast bowler, as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk for the remainder of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Mustafizur, 29, was signed for Rs 6 crore after Fraser-McGurk, who had personal reasons, could not return. Mustafizur, a left-arm bowler, brings a wealth of experience with 61 wickets in 57 IPL matches at an economy rate of 8.14.
Last season, Mustafizur played 14 games for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), taking nine wickets and earning a four-wicket haul. However, CSK released him, and he went unsold in the mega auction held in November 2024. Mustafizur returns to the Delhi Capitals, having previously represented the team in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, where he took nine wickets from 10 matches.
Apart from his IPL experience, Mustafizur has extensive T20 credentials, with 351 wickets in 281 matches since making his debut in 2015. He also had an impressive campaign in the 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he was the top wicket-taker for Dhaka Capital, claiming 13 wickets in 12 games.
Meanwhile, Fraser-McGurk struggled in his limited IPL appearances, scoring only 55 runs in six matches, with a top score of 38.
Currently, DC is in fifth place in the IPL standings with 13 points and a net run rate of +0.362, having won six out of their 11 matches. After a strong start with four consecutive wins, the team has faltered, and they will aim to regain momentum in their upcoming match against Gujarat Titans on May 18 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
