Swiggy reports that the package delivery service is no longer available and that Genie is cooling off for a while

It seems that Swiggy Genie has temporarily disappeared from the app, causing confusion among users across cities like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Pune. There have been numerous reports claiming that the service has been discontinued, but Swiggy has clarified through posts on X (formerly Twitter) that the service is only on a brief hiatus.

Swiggy reassured users that the Genie is "taking a little break from granting wishes," and that the team is actively working on bringing it back, though no specific timeline has been provided yet. In another post, the company humorously mentioned that the "Genie's lamp is just cooling off for a bit," but assured users that the team would keep everyone updated when the service is back online.

Swiggy Genie, which has been available in 70 cities across India, is a hyperlocal parcel delivery service similar to other services like Uber Courier, Dunzo, and Porter. It was launched in April 2020 and has gained popularity for its efficiency in delivering packages within short time frames.

This temporary pause in Swiggy Genie’s availability coincides with the company's push to expand its 10-minute food delivery service, Swiggy Bolt. Bolt, which was launched in October 2024, is focused on speeding up food deliveries, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. It's already operational in 500 cities and accounts for over 10% of Swiggy's food delivery orders.

To clarify, Swiggy Genie is a parcel delivery service, while Swiggy Bolt focuses on food delivery in 10 minutes. Swiggy Instamart, another of the company’s services, is designed for daily items and grocery deliveries.

While Swiggy Genie is temporarily unavailable, the company’s broader push with Swiggy Bolt continues to move forward, reshaping its delivery ecosystem in India.
